Pink Petals

A few years ago, my blog-loving sister turned me onto Ish & Chi. She does some great Fashion Friday posts but what I enjoy more than the clothes is the artwork that serves as the backdrop for the photos. It's simple, organic and graphic. Hers is an acrylic-on-linen Aboriginal original similar to this one shown by the same artist:

I'm sure in person you can really appreciate the imperfections of each brushstroke that give it such a rich quality.

Since then, I've wondered how that concept would translate to different colors and mediums. Here are the results of a pink watercolor version.

I kind of love it. With watercolor you get the variation in saturation which  gives it the painterly style I adore. I'm liking this as a print for wrapping paper or envelope inserts.
